     I define social media as platforms that allow users to share information through several mediums such as: videos, images, sound clips, and comments. Some examples of this are Instagram, TikTok, and Twitter. I define social networking as meeting new people through mutual connections from the use of social media. Social networking is not only online, but you can social network in the real world as well. Being introduced to new people or experiencing new things through a mutual friend. The social networking sites I use are Instagram, Snapchat, Twitter, and YouTube. I use Instagram, Snapchat, and Twitter for entertainment, while I use YouTube for both education and entertainment. I use Instagram very frequently; Instagram is my news source and secondary form of communication behind iMessage. I also use Snapchat for communication purposes but not as frequent as Instagram, I sometimes forget that I even have Snapchat. 

    My social media of choice (Instagram) adds to my confidence at times. Whenever I need inspiration for what to wear for a certain event or to remember what outfits I'm capable of pulling off, I'll look at my own feed for new combinations and outfit ideas. On the contrary, Instagram can make me feel negatively about the world. Since I use Instagram as my news source, I see plenty of negative updates on the world. There is also a high amount of bias and manipulation in the news I view on Instagram. It has gotten to the point where I'll delete Instagram for a week because of all the negativity I see.

Time Diary

 When it comes to social media, Instagram and TikTok are the two apps I use the most. I mostly use Instagram as a news outlet, humor, communication, and fashion inspiration. There's always something interesting being posted on Instagram, and that's what keeps me scrolling. I use TikTok for financial education and entertainment.  After documenting my use of the Instagram app for the past four days, I spent a total of 7 hours and 43 minutes of usage. I use it most frequently when I wake up. This is to check for any breaking news, and get a few minutes of entertainment before I get my day started. I also use Instagram a lot during my lunch breaks at work. My breaks are an hour long, so I use Instagram for a few minutes out of that hour. Lastly, most of my usage comes after work.  There are many dos and don'ts of social media; but I only have a few. Posting too much about your personal life is definitely a don't on my list. An example of this is posting about every update throughout your daily life. This is essentially spamming your story with information that your followers wont care about. Another don't is posting offensive things that are considered "hate crimes". Though we have the freedom of speech, hate crimes are an exception. Posting your outfits and shouting out your friends are things that I view as do's. These don't hurt anyone and aren't viewed as annoying spam posts. My posts have definitely evolved since I started being active on social media. As a "newb" I posted memes that I took from other pages, this was during my middle school years.
